Ore blocks are an alternative source of ore obtainable through the Mining skill and their generation height can range from surface exposure to deepslate level. Unlike rocks, ore blocks are not renewable with the exception of [[Rune Essence Ore]].

All rocks and ore blocks have a 1/128 (0.8%) chance to drop a random gem, improved to a chance of 1/86 (1.2%) when wearing a [[Ring of Luck]]. The type of gem dropped is random and may be an Emerald, Amethyst Shard, Lapis Lazuli, an [[Uncut Opal]], an [[Uncut Sapphire]] or a Diamond. Players are more likely to receive the others more than a Diamond, however.
